At Robie Street Dental Centre, our dentists are able to preform a wide variety of oral surgery procedures to treat dental issues and improve the oral health of our Halifax patients.
What is Oral Surgery?
Oral surgery encompasses the diagnosis and surgical treatment of diseases, injuries and defects in the soft and hard tissues in your jaw, mouth, teeth and face.
While our dentists always use the least invasive treatment possible for a given dental health issues, some some instances the less invasive treatment option aren't sufficient. It is in these cases that we use oral surgery.
Although it is always preferable to save a natural tooth if possible, there are some instances where it can't be done. In these cases, when a tooth is too damage by injury, gum disease or decay, it may need to be removed by your dentist.
Wisdom Tooth Removal
Wisdom teeth are the final set of molar which erupt in the back corners of your mouth. If wisdom teeth are causing oral hygiene problems, your dentist might recommend that they be removed in order to preserve your oral health.
A frenectomy procedure to eliminate a frenum, a small piece of tissue that connects your cheeks, tongue or lips to your gum area. Our dentists perform frenectomies for babies, children and adults when the frenum is restricting function, commonly referred to as tongue-tied, lip-tied or cheek-tied.
